"Calling all kids" is the rallying cry of a group of local tennis buffs.
The racquet crew, which includes local tennis teaching pro Diane Jackson and members of the Payson Tennis Club, is sponsoring a free children tennis clinic.
The Payson Parks and Recreation Department is co-sponsoring the clinic.
The sessions will be hosted from 10 a.m. to noon each Saturday at the Rumsey Park courts for the next five or six weeks, PTC member Rob Ingram said.
Youngsters 8 to 16 years of age are eligible to participate.
During the clinic, adult players will be on hand at the courts to provide lessons and assistance to fledgling players, Ingram said.
Payson Golf Course will supply used tennis balls, but the youngsters must bring their own racquets.
All that's required of the children who want to participate, Ingram said, is an interest in the sport.
