Payson Avenges Loss To Phoenix Christian

In Arizona Prep Summer Baseball League action, Payson upped its credentials to 3-1, splitting a pair of games against Phoenix Christian.

Payson opened the twin bouts played last week at Maryvale Sports Complex the spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers by losing to PC 10-6. In the second game, the Rim diamond crew rebounded for a 15-10 triumph.

In the opener, Tyler Pettet who was one of the pitching aces on last spring's Longhorn baseball squad absorbed the loss, going the distance on the hill.

Offensive honors were garnered by Darren Grover, Eddie Pritchard and Waylon Pettet.

According to Payson coach Teddy Pettet, Grover had two hits, Waylon Pettet a triple and Pritchard a double.

In the Payson victory over PC, Ky Bradley hurled the win. Once again, Grover was one of the leading hitters, stroking two base hits.

Mike Hansen also finished with a pair of hits, one of which was a triple.

The summer league team returns to action at 7 p.m. June 22 against Maryvale at Maryvale High School.

The next home games for the Payson team are June 23 and 24 against Sahuaro High School on PHS field. Game time Friday is 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, the game begins at 11 a.m. There is no admission charge for spectators.
