The Tonto Rim Search and Rescue Squad is once again raising money for its operations. For just $10 per ticket -- and that is a tax-deductible ticket -- this year's grand prize is a Yamaha Grizzly 600 4x4 with a trailer. The ATV comes courtesy of Four Seasons Motorsports in Payson.
The trailer that comes with the ATV, plus $150 worth of accessories, have been donated by Bix Tex Trailers in Phoenix.
The first prize is a hand-carved bear cub donated by Pine artist Jim McMillion and second prize is a $500 compound bow donated by Jerry's Sports Shop in Phoenix.
The drawing will be held April 28 and ticket holders do not need to be present to win.
This is your chance to support the men and women who volunteer their time and equipment to search for and rescue those of us who get lost in the woods.
To get a ticket just grab anyone wearing an orange shirt that says "Get Lost," or call Mike Taylor at 476-4947.
It is March and the Pine-Strawberry Class of 2000 is hosting the annual Phoenix Coyote dinner, dance and auction. The class is on the lookout for donations for the upcoming fund-raiser. If you have anything to donate, give the school a call at 476-3283.
Thanks to all of you who inquired about this column. We all have hectic moments in our lives, and unfortunately I hit one and missed a couple of my deadlines.
Scouts recruiting members
In missing my deadlines, I did not get out the word that the Pine Boy Scout Troop is actively recruiting new members.
Cub Scouts can be 8 to 10 years old and Boy Scouts are 11 to 17 years old.
According to Scout Master Jim Sprinkle, the boys will raft the lower Colorado River, camp out once a month and be eligible to attend the scout summer camp this year.
For more information, call Sprinkle at 474-4160 or 476-2056.
