Library Donor Plans To Match $100,000

An anonymous donor has offered to match up to $100,000 in donations to the Payson Library Friends this year for its library building fund.

"This person came in and sat down and visited with me," Library Director Terry Morris said. "A week ago today (Monday), at the Library Friends' board meeting, the offer was finalized. We have the opportunity to actually come out of it with $200,000," Morris said. "We're just downright excited."

What could the money buy?

Well, maybe more interior furnishings, Morris said, or it could possibly be put toward the Library Friends' long-range plan of putting a homework center in the new library building in Rumsey Park.

"It could be a place where kids could be tutored or work on a computer or their GEDs.

Construction on the 16,000-square-foot building will likely begin in August.

Anyone who wants to donate can mail a check to P.O. Box 13, Payson, AZ, 85547 c/o the Library Friends of Payson building fund.
