Lacking any flashing caution lights or even caution signs, I think the crosswalks on Highway 260 near Country Kitchen and Jiffy Lube are potential deathtraps and provide a false sense of safety to pedestrians.
While crossing the westbound lanes several weeks ago, vehicles in the innermost lane stopped for me, but a speeding school bus in the middle lane was unable to stop and hurtled across the crosswalk a few feet in front of me.
Had I been less alert and not stopped abruptly, I would have definitely been killed.
Will it take a death for the responsible governmental entity to do something about this situation?
