With lifeguard training wrapped up, Taylor Pool now has a full complement of certified lifeguards and will open at 1 p.m. May 27.
Longtime pool manager Jim Quinlan said the most recent class of lifeguard trainees all passed CPR training last week and today will undergo final exams involving written tests and in-the-water life-saving skills.
Those who pass the tests will be awarded Red Cross certificates that allow them to work as lifeguards in public pools throughout the United States.
Some of the graduates will be hired at Taylor Pool, Quinlan said, but the exact number won't be determined until it is learned how many veterans from past seasons are returning.
Others in the class, he said, are there to earn certifications so they can work at the Chaparral Pines pool and at scout and church camps around the Rim country.
The training classes began two weeks ago and included three-hour sessions on weekdays and one-half day training on Saturdays.
During the three-day Memorial Day weekend, Taylor Pool will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. for open swimming. Swim lessons and other aquatic programs will begin June 5.
Registration for all summer programs began Monday at the Town Parks and Recreation offices located in Green Valley Park. Call 474-5242, ext. 7 for more information.
