This Friday evening, make plans to spend the night on the high school football field.
You'll enjoy live entertainment, great food, the company of friends, and lots of activities for young and old, as the community joins together for the Second Annual Relay for Life an all-night event benefiting the American Cancer Society.
This is not an athletic event. It's a night filled with activity booths, silent and live actions, raffles, live music and great food. Everyone is invited.
The field opens at 5 p.m. Friday with opening ceremonies scheduled for 6 p.m.
There will be a live auction Friday with auctioneer Larry Everhart at 7:30 p.m. Featured live auction items include a fishing trip with guide, golf at the Rim Club and Chaparral Pines, a new tent, color TV, artwork, a fax machine, bicycles, a family photo shoot, a VCR and a Diamondbacks' baseball signed by powerhouse catcher Kelly Stinett.
If you like raffles, you'll discover more than 50 raffle items ranging from scenic airplane flights to salon haircuts and styles.
A silent auction will take place throughout the night, which includes quality tools, jewelry, computer accessories, dinner from local restaurants, gift certificates from retail merchants and a Yamaha ATV Big Bear 400 4x4 donated by Four Seasons Motorsports.
For the children, or the child inside you, there will be game booths, a castle, a maze, a slide and a horse race area.
While you're there, you are bound to meet some of the many cancer survivors from our community who are joining this event. You may also meet supporters who have lost loved ones or families who are fighting to keep their loved ones alive.
So come out this Friday night and join the fight. You'll be glad you did.
Special thanks to all the business sponsors and individuals who have made this event possible.
