When it came to voting this election, young people were clearly more decisive than their parents.

At least that's what the ballot tallies from the Northern Gila County Kids Voting program and Payson's teen-voting Web page indicated.

In both contests, George W. Bush walloped Vice President Al Gore, racking up 779 votes to the vice president's 266 in the county-wide program, and 152 to 39 on the Web page.

"Bush won big, landslide, no question, no competition," said Payson High School senior Brian Haddad, who developed the Web page with PHS graduate Colin Cory.

The Web page voting results of about 1,600 site "hits" can be viewed at http://rimvolunteers.tripod.com/decision. The county's Kids Voting ballot-punching program tallied up a total of 1,117 votes.
