Crafts, Etc., the area's newest arts and crafts store, is relocating for the second time in four months, this time from Star Valley to a new Payson location it will share with the Local Gallery.
Crafts, Etc. opened its newest store Nov. 1 at 805-A S. Beeline Highway, which a year ago was occupied by Flowers By June. On Nov. 21, the Local Gallery's current Main Street storefront will be closed, and the business will move into the South Beeline location, side-by-side with Crafts, Etc.
The move by Crafts, Etc. was necessitated not by poor business but great business, said owner Jeri Mertes.
"It was great (in Star Valley). Our inventory doubled in three months and we outgrew the place. The new building gives us another 150 square feet. We really needed something bigger."
Together, Crafts, Etc. and the Local Gallery are already using the new location to offer 46 different two- and three-hour arts and crafts classes led by 13 different Rim country artists.
"The biggest thing we hear from the ladies who come into Crafts, Etc. is that there's nothing to do in Payson, I'm retired, I'm bored. So now there's something to do; they can come in and sit, work, paint, work on projects, do scrapbooking, whatever. They can do that all day if they want. They can pay $2 per hour for work time and use all of our materials, or they can come in and take actual classes."
