Girls Teams Want To Share Success With Community

I would like to bring this to your attention. I am an eighth-grade girl who plays sports for Rim Country Middle School and also for the town league. I represent a group of girls who take their athletics as seriously as any boy does.

Your newspaper does not give girl sports equal coverage. Our girls teams are hard working athletes who put their heart and soul into the game. There is more to sports than football and wrestling. Our girls teams have been successful and we would like to share our success with the community.

Girls sports have come a long way. We are asking you to support us with equal coverage. I thank you for your time, and hope to see girls sports covered soon.

Editor's note: The Roundup takes pride in reporting the accomplishments of our local athletes both girls and boys and has had the privilege of covering the great strides our local girls have made in advancing women's athletics. Although sports coverage is based on a variety of factors including grade level and player and team performance we strive to strike a balance between girls and boys coverage, and, over the course of each year, normally do. Keep up the good work, girls. It won't be overlooked.
