Here's another reason to give thanks on Thanksgiving Day: The handy list below points out which local institutions are open and which are closed for the holiday.

Schools

All Payson schools: Open Wednesday for half a day, and closed Thanksgiving and Friday. Payson High School students will be dismissed at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, while all others will be dismissed at noon.

Payson School District office: Closed Thanksgiving and Friday, but open all day Wednesday.

Pine-Strawberry Elementary School: Dismissal at 11 a.m. Wednesday, closed Thanksgiving and Friday.

Banks

All Payson banks, including SAFCU, will be closed Thanksgiving, but open during normal business hours Wednesday and Friday.

Grocery stores

The Wal-Mart Supercenter will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the holiday.

Bashas' will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Safeway will be open Thanksgiving Day until 3 p.m.

Town of Payson

All offices of the Town of Payson, except the police and fire departments, will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Gila County offices

All Gila County offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Regular business hours will be observed Wednesday and Friday.

Post offices

The Payson and Pine Post Offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day only.
