Robert Osborne Hunt, 87, died Oct. 1, 2000, in Payson, Ariz. He was born in New York City, N.Y. in 1913. He was a 35 year resident of Payson. Prior to Payson Mr. Hunt was a resident of Phoenix for 15 years.
Mr. Hunt graduated number one in his class from the Trinity School for Boys in New York City. He went on to graduate from Yale University in 1935 and later from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He served with distinction in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Hunt was a partner of Hunt and Ballard Insurance of Phoenix for many years. For the last several years he was involved in real estate development and appraisal work throughout much of Arizona.
He is a descendent of President William Henry Harrison. His family and the family of Robert E. Lee were closely connected.
Survivors include his sister, Rosemary Todd, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Summit N.J.; and brother, James S. Hunt of Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea (Darnell) Hunt, and wife, Jean (Stonex) Hunt.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N. Easy Street.
Interment will be in East Orange, N.J.
