Strawberry Schoolhouse closing for the winter

The Oldest Standing Schoolhouse in Arizona has closed for the winter. Volunteers for the Pine-Strawberry Historical Society would like to thank you for being one of the hundreds who helped make this season a success.

There is a special "Holiday Open House" planned for Thanksgiving weekend. Dates and times can be found here, on the radio, and posters will announce the event in local businesses as the time draws nearer. If you have a group that wants to see the inside of the oldest standing schoolhouse, private tours can be arranged by calling 476-4791 or 476-3375. Regular hours resume in May of 2001.

Old Time Fiddlers' Jam

This Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m., fiddlers, guitar players, banjo pickers, mandolin players, and bass players are invited for some old-fashioned pickin' and a grinnin' in the Cultural Hall at the Pine Community Center. This lively crew is ever-changing and entertaining.

Drug Awareness Week

At 9:30 a.m. Friday Oct. 20, Pine-Strawberry Elementary School Students will be marching to a beat of their own.

The Students Against Disastrous Decisions will lead a parade of all the children (250+) from the school out to Highway 87 by way of the Nifty Fifties access road, North on 87 to Randall Drive and back to the school. This is a great time to show our community kids that we support their positive activities. Guests and spectators are welcome to follow the kids right into the gymnasium following the parade for an all-school assembly.
