Rim Guidance Center Kicks Off Series Of Self-Help Discussions

Rim Guidance Center has begun a series of free monthly presentations on a variety of topics and open to the general public.

The series kicked off Oct. 12, with "What it takes to feel good at home, at work and in relationships." The facilitator of the 90-minute presentation was noted local counselor Lee Kennedy, M.C., C.P.C.

Executive Director Jeff Gray said Rim Guidance hopes to address many issues of general concern to the public.

"We want to provide a benefit to the community by addressing a number of challenges which we all face from time to time and point out some of the various options available to them in a sharing environment," he said.

The first presentation opened with participants sharing some of the happiest experiences they could remember. They then went on to examine their outlook at the time of the experience and looked for ways to re-create that outlook in the future.

"It felt really good just to hear about everyone's happy experiences," one participant said.

Rim Guidance Center a division of Southwest Behavioral Health will hold its next free workshop Nov. 9, with the topic being "Compassionate Communication." The following month, Dec. 7, the topic will be "Coping with Holiday Stress."

Rim Guidance representatives say they are also looking for more ideas from the public as they work to fill the coming year's calendar. Rim Guidance is located at 404 West Aero Drive in Payson and the free workshops begin at 7 p.m. with refreshments.
