Basketball registration for boys and girls in third and fourth grades is over, but we still have a few spaces for late registrants. The fee is $25 and includes a T-shirt and a team pizza party. Games will be held in November and December. Team placement is random and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Trout return to Green Valley Lakes in Payson
The Urban Fishing Program trout stocking season begins this week at Green Valley lakes in Payson. Over 1,000 rainbow trout are scheduled for stocking Thursday, Oct. 19. Trout are expected to average from 10 to 13 inches and will be delivered once again by Blue River Fish Hatchery, a contractor to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
Water temperatures at Green Valley lakes have cooled to the mid-60s, making them suitable to restart the stocking of trout. Trout stockings will continue from October to early May at three-week intervals. After this first seasonal trout stocking date on Oct. 19, exact dates of other trout stockings will not be announced.
This is the third year that Green Valley has received trout stockings as part of the Urban Fishing Program. Anglers age 14 and over must purchase and possess a Class U (Urban) fishing license to fish at Green Valley lakes. The Class U license covers all species of fish, so a trout stamp is not necessary.
