Major League Baseball Skills Competition

This program gives boys and girls ages 7 to 14 the opportunity to feature their batting, fielding/throwing, and base-running abilities. (Age is based on the child's age as of Aug. 31, 2001.) The local competition will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rumsey II (North) Ball Field on Wednesday, April 11. There is no charge for this event. All participants must bring their own glove. Local winners advance to sectional competition in May or June. Sectional winners go on to the Arizona Diamondbacks Team Championships in June. Team champions may qualify for the national finals in July at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Youth Soccer

We still have a few openings for youth soccer in age divisions 8 and 9, 10-12 and 13-15 as of May 15, 2001. Due to availability, we will allow 7-year-olds to play with the 8 and 9 year olds with parental consent. The fee is $25 per child and includes a T-shirt and a team pizza party. Games will be played in March and April and will be held on Saturdays and some weeknights. (Due to limited field space, soccer for ages 4 to 7 is held in September and October.)
