For one last Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Church on Randall Place, free tax-preparation services are available to anyone with a low or moderate income.
The service is sponsored by AARP but people do not have to be a member of AARP or the church to use the service. Some e-filing (internet) services, also are available at no cost. Because of limited space and limited help, people are asked to call Cheryl Brooks at 476-2484 for an appointment.
Clairvoyant comes to town
A Book For All Seasons has special guest Tim DeCorte, local clairvoyant and intuitive reader for the next two weekends. From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and again on Saturday, April 14,
DeCorte will be at the local bookstore on Hardscrabble Road meeting with the people of Pine-Strawberry. DeCorte has more than 20 years experience in this field.
Those interested may call DeCorte at (520) 468-6861 to set up a personal appointment or stop by the store for more information.
Support school, shop online
Mother's Day, graduation and Father's Day are all coming up fast, and if you have someone special to shop for, you might try shopping online and support your favorite school at the same time. Of course, I am counting on that school being the Pine-Strawberry Elementary School. But first, let's be sure you know how it works.
Sign up at www. schoolpop.com. You give your name and the school's name, and from its page you can link to online florists, bookstores, clothing stores and gift shops.
All purchases you make through those links will bring dollars up to 20 percent of your purchase by way of shopping credits into the school.
Got a gifted little one who is climbing the walls at your house? You can add that child to the P-S student body next year by signing up your 3- and 4-year-olds for preschool. The way a child develops and learns is the key to his or her future. Registration for the 2001-02 Pine-Strawberry Preschool is under way. Registration day will be Wednesday, May 2. If your child will be 3 years old by Sept. 1, call the office at 476-3283 for details.
Free screening designed to identify developmental delay in children up to age 5 is available throughout the year. If you would like your child screened in the areas of walking, talking, hearing, learning and/or social development, call the school office.
