More than 60 of the world's rarest and most beautiful cars will make a pit stop in Payson Sunday, April 22, as their drivers participate in the 11th Annual Mercedes-Benz Copperstate 1000 road rally.
This year's four-day event will include 16 Ferraris, nine Mercedes-Benz, six Jaguars and six Porsches, all made before 1970. Drivers from across the country will participate in this 1,000-mile tour of Arizona's desert terrain, verdant river valleys and alpine landscapes.
Car lovers are encouraged to join members of the Rim Country Classic Auto Club along with many of their own cars to welcome the Copperstate drivers, chat with the drivers, and get an up-close glimpse of their favorite cars.
The event will take place at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 22 near the southwest corner of the Payson Village shopping plaza.
The Copperstate 1000 is organized by the Men's Art Council and presented by Molina Fine Jewelers; Strum, Ruger & Co.; and AAA Arizona. It is one of the Phoenix Art Museum's largest annual fund-raising events, having raised nearly $350,000 in its 10-year history.
