Frederick Darwin Olney, 80, of Payson, died April 25, 2001. He was born June 26, 1920, in Utica, N.Y.
A World War II veteran, he served with the Army Air Corps. He retired from GE/Honeywell as a manager of manufacturing engineering and from Dean Witter as a stockbroker. He was credited with numerous patents and awards, including the H.G. Sweatt Engineer-scientist award.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Thelma Olney, of Payson; three daughters, Sabra L. Fisher and Karen S. Muenich, both of Phoenix and Gwen D. Wilson of Henderson, Nev.; one son, Daniel D. Olney of Phoenix; one sister, Betty Nygard of Alabama; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Downing, Eleanore Harrington and Elaine Pollard.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 30 at the Mountain Bible Church, 302 E. Rancho Road.
