Registration for the youth T-Ball and all girls softball programs ends April 27. The T-Ball program is for boys and girls who are ages 4-7 as of Aug. 1, 2001. The girls softball program is for girls who are ages 7 -15 as of Aug. 1, 2001. Divisions are as follows:
Ages 7-10: Coach Pitch
Ages 12 and under Modified Pitch
Ages 15 and under Modified Pitch
Ages 13 to 18 Fast Pitch
Registration is $20 per child for each program. Season begins June 4, 2001.
Lifeguard Training Class
If you're age 15 or older, you can become a certified lifeguard by completing the American Red Cross "Lifeguard Training for the Professional Lifeguard" classes April 30 to May 12. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon. Fee for the class includes Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid. Registration fee is $50 per person. Participants must register at the Parks and Recreation Office by 5 p.m., Friday, April 27. The class is for new lifeguards, or those who need to update their certification.
Water Safety Instructor Course
If you're age 17 or older and have strong swimming skills, enroll in this class May 14 to 26. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon. Upon completion, you'll be eligible to provide lessons at Taylor Pool or anywhere American Red Cross lesson are offered. Registration fee is $50 per person. The class is for new instructors, or for those who need to update their certification.
Adult Lap Swim
Rise and shine this summer with the adult lap swim, held weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., running June 4 to July 27. Registration is $40 per person and begins April 30. Space is limited. Don't delay.
Take the plunge and sign up for water aerobics this summer. Classes are held weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. and 5:30 to 6:25 p.m. Participants pay a $10 registration fee, then $1 each time they attend class. Registration begins April 30; classes run from June 4 to Aug. 3.
This exciting class begins June 18 and will be offered in two sessions: from noon to 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The fee is $35 for the entire six-week program. Participants must be capable of swimming unassisted in the deep end of the pool. Class sizes are limited, so sign up now. Please note: if fewer than eight swimmers enroll in either time slot, the two classes may be consolidated. Registration begins April 30.
The Payson Recreational Swim Team begins practice June 4 and meets Monday through Friday until July 27. Registration will be accepted April 30 to June 1. The fee is $40 per child and includes a T-shirt, a minimum of four recreational swim meets and an end-of-season party. Participants must be at least 5 years old as of June 1, 2001. They must also be able to swim freestyle across the deep end, have basic diving skills and have some competency in the butterfly, back and breast strokes.
Lessons begin Monday, June 4 and are held in two-week sessions throughout the summer. Registration is $15 per person, per session; or $20 if after the deadline. Class sizes are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first served basis.

The pool opens for the season Saturday, May 26. Daily pool admission for open swim is $1 for youth, or $1.50 per person age 18 and older. Daily youth passes and a complete list of Taylor Pool hours, classes and programs is available through the Parks and Recreation Office.
