Joseph Edward Mecey, 82, of Scottsdale and Payson, died April 25, 2001. He was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Phoenix.

Mr. Mecey was a retired manager for the City of Phoenix. He owned several Midas Muffler Shops and was a World War II veteran. He was an active member of the Phoenix Model A Club and the Studebaker Drivers Club.

Survivors include his wife, Alita Mecey, of Scottsdale and Payson; one sister, Rowena Livingston, of Payson; two daughters, Judith Mariner of Tucson and Malinda Wilkins of Waco, Texas; one niece, Karen Strickland of Scottsdale; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Friday, April 27 at Greenwood Memorial Lawn Chapel.

Services were held Saturday, April 28 at Serenity Mausoleum Chapel at Greenwood Memory Lawn in Phoenix.
