Youth Tumbling

Due to high demand, a second session has been added to the youth tumbling program. The additional class will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 12 through March 7. Participants must be in grades K-6. The fee is $15 per child, and class size is limited to the first 40 participants to sign up. This class fills quickly, so sign up now.

Youth Wrestling

Register now for the youth wrestling program, held from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 20 through March 22. Participants must be in grades 2-6. The fee is $15 per child, and class size is limited to the first 50 participants to sign up.

Seventh- & Eighth-Grade Basketball

Late registration for seventh- and eighth-grade basketball is now being accepted. Entry fee is $25 per child. The fee includes a T-shirt and a team pizza party. Games will be played on Saturdays and some weeknights beginning in mid-February and ending by March 31.

NBA 2Ball Competition

This free competition will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Tonto Apache Reservation gym. The program allows boys and girls between the ages of 8 through 11 to test their basketball skills while teaching teamwork, sportsmanship and fundamentals. Each two-person team has one-minute to score as many baskets as possible from the designated shooting spots on the court. Winners in each division advance to the area competition, and possibly to the championships at an NBA arena. Age is determined as of Jan. 1, 2001. Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office at Green Valley Park.

Fifth- and Sixth-Grade Boys & Girls Basketball Tournaments

These tournaments are open to all teams, local and out-of-town, who want to participate. Both tournaments will be held Saturday, March 31. Registration is $100 per team and is limited to the first 12 teams to sign up in both divisions. Registration deadline is Friday, March 23.

Laughlin trip

Join us for a trip to Laughlin, March 26, 27 and 28. One bus has already been filled, but a second bus will be added if possible. Choose between a single room for $80 or a double room for just $65 per person. Price includes transportation via deluxe motor coach, three days/two nights at the Edgewater Hotel & Casino, one buffet meal and one "fun book." Space is limited, and participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, stop by the Parks and Recreation office at Green Valley Park, or call 474-5242, ext. 7.

Grab a fishing pole

Fishing poles and mini tackle boxes are available at the Parks and Rec office. You must be 18 years and older to check out the fishing poles, but anglers of all ages may use them free of charge. The program is sponsored by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
