Clayton Brown, 84, of Payson, died Feb. 3, 2001, in Payson. He was born in Dupuyer, Mont. on Nov. 29, 1916, to Elizabeth and George Brown. He graduated from Toole County High School in Shelby, Mont. in 1935. He served some time in the Army stationed in various places.
Mr. Brown married Maurine Kassel April 18, 1941 in Las Vegas, Nev. They resided in California and Montana, where they raised their two children, Richard and Patricia. He worked for the Mobil Oil Company in Great Falls, Mont. and he was employed by the Montana Motor Transportation Association in Billings and Helena. Upon retiring, they moved to Lakeside Montana. Mrs. Brown died in 1994.
In July 2000, Mr. Brown married Bonnie Gauf in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, and they later retired to Payson.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Brown, of Payson; one son, Richard C. Brown, of Chandler; one daughter, Pat Lambrecht-Hould, of Lakeside, Mont. and Wickenburg, Ariz.; two sisters, Hazel Freeman of San Antonio, Texas and Barbara Andrews of Canby, Ore.; one brother, Donald Brown of Valier, Mont.; six grandchildren, Kristin Conrad, Tresha Holden, Tanya Lambrecht-Rathje, Ty R. Brown, Amy Nelson and Susan Brady; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, and a future memorial service will be held in Lakeside, Mont. in August.
