Brigham A. Farnsworth, 93, of Mesa, Ariz., died Feb. 23, 2001. He was born April 28, 1907, in Colonia Garcia, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Mr. Farnsworth spent his youth on a ranch in Mexico learning to work. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent most of his mission in Mesa.
He married his sweetheart Alberta Jones. They had eight children. When he moved his family to Chandler, he worked construction as an operating engineer.
Mr. Farnsworth enjoyed hunting, fishing and leading horseback trips peppered with stories of growing up in Mexico. He enjoyed working in the temple, serving in the church, going on family camp-outs, spending time with his children and speaking Spanish.
After his first wife died, he married Geniel Grover. They served a mission in the Guatemala Temple.
Survivors include, two daughters, Gwenna Jean Ethington Eagar of Strawberry, and Suzanna (Susie) Lines; three sons, Leon Frank Farnsworth, Larry Dean Farnsworth, and Fred Lynn Farnsworth; 51 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Brigham A. Farnsworth and Ned Farnsworth and one daughter, Elva Kay Farnsworth.
Viewing was held Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 at Fairfield LDS Church.
Services were held today (Tuesday, Feb. 27) at the Fairfield LDS Ward Building in Mesa.
Interment was at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale.
Arrangements were handled by Bueler Mortuary, Chandler, Ariz.
