Youth Tumbling


A few openings are available for the youth tumbling program, held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 12 through March 7. Participants must be in grades K to 6. The fee is $15 per child, and class size is limited to the first 40 participants to sign up. This class fills quickly, so sign up now.

Youth Wrestling

Register now for the youth wrestling program, held from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 20 through March 22. Participants must be in grades 2 to 6. The fee is $15 per child, and class size is limited to the first 50 participants to sign up.

Seventh- & Eighth-Grade Basketball

Deadline to register for seventh- and eighth-grade basketball is Friday, Jan. 19. Entry fee is $20 per child. The fee includes a T-shirt and a team pizza party. Games will be played on Saturdays and some weeknights beginning in mid-February and ending by March 31.

Basketball leagues

Deadline to register for men's and women's basketball leagues is Friday, Jan. 19. There is a four-team minimum for all divisions. Registration fee is $375 per team, which includes an end-of-season tournament. Awards will be given for the tournament only. High school players must be at least 16 years old to participate. Boys who participate in jayvee or varsity basketball may participate in the competitive division only.

A separate league for ages 35 & older will be offered if a minimum of four teams register. The fee is $275 per team, which includes 10 games. Sign up at Parks & Recreation, 1000 W. Country Club Drive. Deadline is Jan. 19.

Grab a pole

Fishing poles and mini tackle boxes are available at the Parks & Recreation office at the fishing pier at Green Valley Park. You must be 18 years or older to check out the fishing poles, but anglers of all ages may use them free of charge. The program is sponsored by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
