Investigators Still Searching For Vandals

Detectives from the Payson Police Department are still investigating a June 8 crime spree, when vandals broke dozens of windows and destroyed property, including the Shaker Music Store on South Beeline Highway, all over town.

"They caused $2,000 worth of damage," owner Joe Harless said. "They not only got my business, but they also shot out two windows of my van in front of my house, and a window out of a rental car."

"We're still working a few leads," Payson Lt. Don Engler said. "Since that night, we haven't had any new reports of vandalism. There's been no other rash of criminal damages since that night."

Vandals broke out windows of vehicles at Chapman Auto Center, around Payson High School, near Payson Airport, in Payson neighborhoods and in Mesa del Caballo.

Harless has offered a reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandals.

"We're giving away a complete electric guitar set," Harless said. "That includes the guitar, amplifier, gig bag the whole thing is valued at $500. That's how much we want to catch these guys."

Anyone with information about the damage can call the Payson Police Department at 474-5177.
