La Verne Ruth Hermann, 95, of Pine, formerly of Tucson, died July 5, 2001, in Payson. She was born Jan. 4, 1906 near Olathe Johnson, Kan.

Mrs. Hermann graduated from Ottawa, Kansas High School at 16 and received her teaching certificate from Ottawa University in 1924. On Nov. 19, 1927 she married Elmer H. Hermann. They moved to Tucson in 1936, where she became a registrar with Tucson Public School System, retiring in 1971. She was the past president of the Tucson Garden Club and active in founding the Catalina United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Cuthbertson of Pine; and one son, Robert E. Hermann of Carmel, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer and two brothers, James Leford Lawson and Keith Cook Lawson.

Services were held Monday, July 9 at the Adair Funeral Home in Tucson with interment in the South Lawn Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
