Three of the Payson Roundup's special publications The Rim Country Trivia Guide, The Progress Edition and the Fall Guide have earned national honors.
The Roundup won first, second and third place respectively for those publications in the Inland Press Association's national special sections competition.
"Every year, we set out to make our special sections dynamic, informative, useful and fun," Roundup editor Katy Whitehouse said.
"I was particularly proud of this year's Progress Edition," she said. "We took a fresh approach to the project, focusing on the people who make progress happen.
"The result was a lively, informative retrospective that lent meaning to the events of the past year and helped Rim country residents put those changes into perspective. I hope our readers enjoyed it as much as the judges did."
The Roundup competed in the Under 25,000 Circulation Division one of three circulation divisions that attracted 737 entries from 112 U.S. newspapers.
The Rim Country Trivia Guide, which challenged readers to answer local trivia questions, won first place in the family category; the Progress Edition, a community retrospective for the year 2000, won second place in the business/industry category and the Fall Guide, a visitors guide to the Rim country, won third place in the travel/tourism category.
The Arizona Republic was among the winners in the Over 100,000 Division.
The Republic earned first place in the travel/tourism category for its Just What You Need section, and first place in the vendor support category for its Wild Arizona section.
