James E. Landers, 76, of Payson, died July 20, 2001, in Payson. He was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Shawnee, Okla.

Mr. Landers was an appliance repairman. He retired in 1981 from Luke Air Force Base in Glendale as a jet engine mechanic where he served 33 years before moving to Payson.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Martha; three sons, Neil of Payson, David of Phoenix and Brent of Prescott Valley; one daughter, Janelle Wascher of Prescott Valley; four granddaughters, Stacey Donaldson of Plano, Texas, Tamera Arnold of Phoenix, Laina and Karen Landers of Phoenix; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held today (Tuesday, July 24) at First Southern Baptist Church.

Interment was at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.

Arrangements were handled by Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
