There's one last-gasp chance remaining for youngsters to register for participation either as a player or cheerleader in the Payson Youth Football Association.
The sign-up will be held today (Friday) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Rumsey Park multipurpose field.
Registration is $50 per player or $35 for cheerleaders. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificates and recent physical exam reports.
Registration forms are available at the Farm Bureau Insurance Agency office, 100 W. Roundup or at Rumsey field during sign-up this evening.
Team practices begin at 5 p.m. Monday, July 30 at Rumsey Park.
Sessions, about two hours in length, will continue each weekday until the campaign culminates in November.
After the first two weeks of preseason training, Payson coaches will participate in a draft in which players will be placed on teams.
Athletes who were on a PYFA team last year and will not be moving up to another xxxx age/weight division, will remain on the same team they were on last season.
Only athletes new to the program and those changing divisions due to age or weight will be drafted.
Once placed, athletes cannot change teams.
Local PYFA official Eric Santana said he expects the community to field at least six teams in the Central Arizona Youth Football Association.
The three age/weight divisions are Pee Wee (6 to 8 years), Minors (8 to 10 years) and Majors (10 to 12 years).
Call Eric Santana (474-1775) or Hugh Schrank (474-5613) for more information.
