Sisters Tiffany and Tracy Lubken will soon be showcasing their diamond skills in two of the most prestigious amateur softball tournaments in the country.
The pair are members of Phoenix-based Junior Olympic girls fast pitch teams that have qualified for upcoming ASA National Championship tournaments.
As an outfielder on the Lil Saints, Tracy and her teammates are entered in the 14-years-and-under championships Saturday in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Tiffany, who graduated from Payson High School last spring, is a pitcher on the Scorpio team bound for the ASA 18-years-and under national championships Aug. 6 in Salem, Va.
According to the girls' mother Valerie, Tracy will be participating in her fifth consecutive ASA National Championship tournament.
The Lil Saints qualified for the national finals by winning the ASA regional tournament held in Keene, N.H., Valerie said.
Most recently, the team won the Metro Phoenix Championships and the USSSA 16-and- under Arizona State championships.
The Lil Saints sport a 111-21-4 record and are ranked among the top 10 teams in the country, Valerie said.
Tiffany and her Scorpion teammates qualified for the national finals in July by winning the Region 8 ASA 18-years-and-under regional held early this month in Stevens Point, Wis.
According to Valerie, during the tournament Tiffany pitched a one-hit 7-1 victory over the Wisconsin Tornadoes.
To help defray the expenses of the extensive journey to the two national tournaments, the Lubken sisters are accepting donations from local sponsors.
