Margaret Benutton, 80, died, July 23, 2001 in Payson. She was born to Roy and Leila Canaga, Jan. 31, 1921 in Button Mill, California.
Marge lived in Phoenix through her high school years, then in Prescott, Williams, Flagstaff, Kingman and Payson. She spent her young adult years in Williams surrounded by family. She worked at Rod's Steak House and began raising her five children. Margaret moved to Flagstaff in 1952, and earned a degree from Arizona State College in Elementary Education. After teaching many years she returned to school and earned a Masters Degree in School Psychology from Northern Arizona University. She spent her professional career with the Flagstaff Unified School District from 1957 to 1981 as a teacher, a counselor and as one of the district's first school psychologists. Margie loved to read and fish. She always had the energy and ability to effortlessly take care of those around her.
Survivors include her husband, Parker G. Sutton, Jr.; one sister Hattie Inman; one daughter, Sherry Bentevens and her husband; two sons, Tom, Chuck E. BenJr. and his wife Nancy, and Greg A. Bennd his wife Melissa; three stepchildren, Parker F. Sutton III and his wife Patti, Carver Sutton and his wife Penny, and Claudia Inman and her husband Russell; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carole Lee Benn 1956, her son Robert W. Benn 1993 and her brothers, Roy, Bert and Stuart Canaga.
Visitation and services were held Thursday, July 26 at the Williams United Community Church.
Graveside services were at Williams City Cemetery.
