Thomas "Tom" A. Sams, 75, of Payson, died May 31, 2001, in Payson. He was born April 14, 1926, in Hudson, Colo.

Mr. Sams was a painter. He was a corporate secretary of Dee Sams Action Realty, served as a member of the Board of Freeholders who wrote Scottsdale's first town charter in 1961, and was a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Sams of Payson; three daughters, Jeanne "Sam" and her husband Andrew Bowles of Chandler, Jerri and her husband Charles Copenhaver of Chandler, and Jill Morgan of Payson; two sisters, Lorraine Hogan of Canon City, Colo. and Carol Rudnick of Brush, Colo.; and three grandchildren, T.J. Copenhaver, Tylor and Tanner Morgan.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 5 at Payson United Methodist Church.

Interment was at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.
