Area Businesses Invited To Lodging, Restaurant Show


Payson area restaurant and hospitality industry professionals will want to attend The Great Southwest Lodging and Restaurant Show, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 28 and 29, in the Phoenix Civic Plaza. The 13th annual event will feature nearly 400 hospitality industry suppliers as well as industry-related seminars and speakers.

Themed High Tech, High Touch, the show is sponsored jointly by the Arizona Restaurant Association and the Arizona Hotel and Lodging Association. It will showcase innovations in the hospitality industry to thousands of restaurant owners, hotel managers and other hospitality professionals from Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. Exhibitors will display the latest in hospitality products, food-service technology, equipment and services.

In addition, this year's event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, will provide a competitive edge to the more than 5,000 industry professionals who attend, giving them a "one-stop shopping" opportunity to see what's new and exciting in the industry and to purchase items on site. Incentives, specials and drawings will also take place during the two-day event.

Throughout the show, industry leaders will share insight and advice on legislative, marketing and food safety issues at a variety of networking opportunities. Attendees will enjoy events such as the "Hospitality Olympics" and a uniform fashion show and can walk down Author's Alley, with local and national chefs cooking their signature dishes and signing their cookbooks.

Additional activities include cooking demonstrations, Tiny Tot Chefs, a job fair and hospitality-related seminars.

The 2001 Great Southwest Lodging and Restaurant Show is open to industry professionals over the age of 16. Strollers and backpacks are not admitted on the showroom floor. Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Aug. 28 and 29. Admission is $10 if pre-registered by mail, $15 at the door or free for those who register on-line at Booths are still available for industry suppliers.
