If all goes according to plan, the Goodwill store behind McDonald's at the intersection of Highway 260 and the Beeline Highway will open in the next few weeks.
Laurie Thomas, the marketing director for Goodwill Industries' central Arizona headquarters in the Valley, said the store is scheduled to open July 6 at 9 a.m.
"We are very thrilled to be coming to Payson," Thomas said. "We chose the area because it's actually in our geographic service area."
The 20,000 square foot space occupied by Goodwill will feature a retail store, a processing center, a donation drop-off area, and a workforce development center "where we'll aid the community by helping people in job transition and that kind of thing," Thomas said.
She said there will be approximately 25 employees and many of those positions remain unfilled. Job seekers may apply at the store, or by calling (602) 254-2222.
