What's Up?

Q: I heard the Town of Payson animal control officer is leaving June 6. Has anything been done to replace this person?

A: Bonnie Davis is the individual in question, and "she's not leaving per se," according to Payson Police Department Lt. Don Engler. She's actually having additional surgery June 6 on a shoulder she injured while on duty.

"Her status is that she is still an employee, but she will be off for a considerable period of time recuperating," Engler said. Depending on how everything turns out, she will hopefully return to her duties.

In the interim, police officers will fill in as best they can. "We're also looking at our volunteer program for some help in that area," he said.

Davis' injury, by the way, occurred when she was trying to contain some dogs.
