For members of the Payson Women's Golf Association Nine-Hole contingent, the month of May was a furious links endeavor.

Five tournaments highlighted the Niner team schedule that wrapped up May 31 with the traditional end of the month luncheon at Mario's Restaurant.

The campaign opened May 3 with low-net play at the Payson Golf Course. Norma Fellers claimed top honors over runner-up Pam Mitchell and bronze medalist Gladys Fox.

Play continued May 10 in another low-net tournament.

This time around, Fox swung her way to the tourney title. Ardie Poole and Rose Devar tied for second.

May 17, members gathered for a "best six holes, 1/2 handicap" formatted shoot-out. Mitchell and Norma deadknotted in the battle for the gold. Mary Nolan played her way to the silver medal.

Low-net play and closest-to-the-pin on hole 14 was the name of the game on May 23.

Sue Covert finished first and Dorothy Hardman was second. Nolan and Jane Pattertson tied for third.

In always popular low-net play May 31, Fellers finished first, Devar second and Covert third.
