Lora Jesse Smith Long, 81, of Payson, died June 9, 2001 in Payson. She was born to Roy and Harriott Smith March 5, 1920 on a farm near Centralia, Kan. She worked in the Nickerson High School cafeteria and was a nurses' aide in Hutchison, Kan. nursing homes. She went back to school and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked in Nevada, Mo. nursing home as an LPN until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ivan M. Long of Payson; four sons, Gerald and his wife Dorothy Long of Pavilion, N.Y.; Ronald and his wife Joan Long of Grove, Kan.; Bobbie and his wife Brenda Long of Scottsdale, Ariz, and Lynn and his wife Christina Long of Flower Mound, Texas; two sisters, Kate Long and her husband, Elmo of Centralia, Kan. and Nellie Marie Wessel and her husband, Norbert of Frankfort, Kan.; numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jonas and Earl Smith of Centralia, Kan.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14 at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.
