A.E. "Babe" Pike, 93, died June 16, 2001, at his home in Payson. Mr. and Mrs. Pike lived in Prescott 38 years before moving to Payson.
Mr. Pike was a third generation native Arizonan. His father John Pike arrived in Arizona at the age of 15 in 1869. His mother Annie Cartwright arrived with her parents in 1873.
The Pike family at one time resided on East Taylor Street in Phoenix, which is now the Arizona Center. Mr. Pike, as a young boy, grew up on his fathers ranch, the 6-Bar in Yarnell.
He was employed by Sears Roebuck as a furniture finisher for 30 years. He retired in 1962 at the age of 55.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice of Payson; two sons, A.W. "Bill" Pike of Payson and Vernon L. Pike of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. June 23 at the Church of Christ, 509 W. Frontier Street.
