Tell Council To Stop Raising Our Taxes

On Tuesday evening Feb. 27, our president spoke to us about a tax cut. Both parties agree there is a need for a tax cut.

Our town council, on the other hand, wants to increase our taxes on restaurants and bars.

I see elected officials out of touch with the people of Payson. They want to increase the taxes to help pay for the advertising of our restaurants and bars and at the same time decrease the tax on lodging for the people visiting Payson.

We as residents of Payson patronize our restaurants and bars seven days a week, not just on weekends. If this continues, we won't be able to live here. (We'll only be able to) visit Payson.

People of Payson, we must all get more involved in our local government. We must let our elected officials know they must stay in touch with the people of Payson. Call the town council and our mayor and tell them to stop raising our taxes. If we do not get involved, most of us will only be able to visit Payson.
