A Phoenix man was sent to the hospital Friday when his car collided with an 18-wheel semi-truck.
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety Officer Tony McDaniel, 48-year-old Kevin Kueny was turning on to Highway 260 from the parking lot of the Lazy D Motel in Star Valley at 6:15 a.m. Friday, when he ran into the eastbound semi.
When emergency crews arrived, Kueny was conscious and talking, and he was transported to Scottsdale Health Care where he remains with fractured ribs, collapsed lung, broken bone in his face, abrasions and cuts.
Kueny's car was totaled in the collision. The semi was only slightly damaged, and the driver of the semi was unhurt.
McDaniel said the road was closed for only a brief time while crews sprayed debris off the road, and traffic was back to normal by 8 a.m.
