While workers were installing the signs for Stockman's Bank and Mountain Respiratory Care on the south side of Sawmill Theatres, a new banner was hung on the northside, announcing Sawmill Crossing's newest business.
Quizno's Classic Subs is moving into the northeast corner of the shopping center off South Beeline Highway, and the restaurant will soon be serving submarine sandwiches, fresh salads and rich desserts.
"We have (homes) in Mesa and Show Low, and we've spent a lot of time in Payson," co-owner Pam Brady said. "We chose to put a restaurant in Payson, and when we found out about the theaters going in, we knew we wanted to be next to the theater."
Pam and her husband, Jim, own another Quizno's at the corner of Southern Avenue and Clear View in Mesa. There, they serve up Quizno's sandwich favorites, which include the black Angus steak, the honey bacon club, turkey bacon guacamole, and the mesquite chicken with bacon. The restaurant's menu includes the hot beefeater, turkey guac and veggie lite. It also serves up an Italian antipasto salad, a sesame chicken salad and thick and hearty chili.
While crews complete the 13,000-square-foot restaurant, the Brady's are looking for "sandwich artists" to round out their staff by the sandwich shop's expected June 1 opening.
"We are moving our manager up from Mesa," Pam Brady said. "She'll be living in Pine. Then, we'll be looking for seven to 10 employees."
She said Quizno's tentative hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. "But if the theater creates longer hours for us, we'll stay open," she said.
