The following is an open letter to Senator John McCain:
I have recently been made aware that you may soon offer a piece of legislation that would restrict gun shows. I believe that the U.S. Constitution states explicitly that the "right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." As a Republican from Arizona, I believe that you do realize the implications of such a restriction on one of our constitutional rights. That is, of course, if you are not drowning in the power of the U.S. Senate.
If you remember, you are elected by the people, and are supposed to be a representative of the people. If you continue to thwart the will of the people of your state, this will seal my decision to vote for someone else it may be too late already the next time you are up for election. As a matter of fact, I will do all that is within my power to encourage other voters that you are indeed part of an out-of-control federal government, and it is time to ensure our other constitutional rights are not trampled upon by you or any other power-hungry elitist.
You have a responsibility to gun owners of your state because we represent a large percentage of people who voted for you. Lest you lose sight of your responsibility of service to the people who elected you and all other citizens of the state of
Arizona, let me remind you that you are only re-elected if you get a larger percentage of votes than the next guy.
