Robert G. Hoppenrath, 52, of Gisela, died, May 15, 2001 in Gisela. He was born to Glenn W. and Beatrice J. Hoppenrath Aug. 27, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was raised at Champlin, Minn until he was 13 and then moved to Hill City, Minn, where he graduated from high school in 1966. He married Evelyn "Faye" Taylor Hoppenrath July 24, 1970. His son, Jason was born Oct 20, 1973 and his daughter, Gina was born Oct 23, 1975.
He entered the US Air Force in 1966 and retired in 1987. After retirement he went to work in the aerospace industry in Southern California until moving to Gisela in 1996. For the past three-and-a-half years, Mr. Hoppenrath worked for Palm Harbor Homes as a service warranty technician.
Mr. Hoppenrath was a member of St. Philip's Catholic Church, a lifetime member of VFW, a member of the American Legion, the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Retired Enlisted Association.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Hoppenrath of Gisela; one son, Jason Hoppenrath and his wife Shannon of Coos Bay, Ore.; one daughter, Gina L. Brooks and her husband Matt of Mesa; mother, Beatrice Hoppenrath of Gisela; and one sister, Yvonne M. Gowell and her family of Wenatchee, Wash.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21 at St Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, 511 S. St. Philip's Street.
