In Payson Womens Golf Association tournament action, longtime association member Marge Landra played her way to a first-place finish and closest-to-the-pin honors.
Landra copped the A-flight gold May 22 at Payson Golf Course by out-dueling runner-ups Mary Jones and Joyce Karnes.
On hole #8, Landra pocketed closest-to-the-pin prize money after swatting to within 16 feet, 1 inch of the kin.
Karnes was closest on #14, with an effort that left her 31 feet, 3 inches away.
In B flight play, Kay Davis took first-place honors, edging past silver medalist Gerry Quisenberry.
Etta Nichols emerged victorious in C flight. Also in the flight, Alesha Calderwood finished second.
D flight play saw Billie Gibbs finish as runner-up behind Wilma Smith.
In a best ball team tournament May 15, the foursome of Laura Meyocks, Smith, Karnes and Gibbs carded a 123 to finish first.
With a 127, Dee Orr, Glenda Cook, Kay Davis and Lynn Kools were second.
Smith won closest-to-the-pin prize money on #5 by finishing 32 feet, 2 inches away.
Calderwood, who won on hole #17, finished 12 feet, 6 inches shy of the flag.
