The Veterans Day Ceremony at Green Valley Park's Veterans Memorial was awesome.
A special thanks needs to be extended to the Veterans Memorial Committee that was led by Lee Pretsch. Her patriotic volunteers did an excellent job in overseeing the design and construction of a truly beautiful and sacred tribute to all military veterans and specifically the 2,882 Arizona veterans who gave their lives in defense of freedom. They are also responsible for the wonderful Veterans Day event.
It is truly remarkable that the Payson Veterans Memorial was built entirely with contributions from our community.
Local businesses, governments, veterans organizations, service clubs and individuals all generously donated money, materials and labor.
The benefactors of the Payson Veterans Memorial were Gila County, Tonto Apache Tribe, Town of Payson, Lee and Joe Pretsch, Payson Rotary Club, Rim Country Rotary, American Legion Post 69, Mogollon Sporting Association, APS, Energy West, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9829, Stockmen's Bank, Payson Regional Medical Center, Chaparral Pines, Rim Golf Club, Wayne Bentson, Payson Concrete and Materials, The Rock Yard, Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, Wells Fargo Bank, Double D Construction, Zane Grey Kiwanis, Brooks Drafting, Messinger Payson Funeral Home, Young ERA Realty and Investment, Fiesta Business Products, Roy Haught Excavating and Paul Gonnerman.
Sincere thanks to all the above from a grateful community.
