Members of the Payson Women's Golf Association 18-hole group gathered last week at the Payson course for a "blind partners" formatted tournament in which participants were paired in a drawing.
The duo of Ginny Barnes and Nancy Althoff strung together 138 points to take first-place honors.
With 140 points, the runner-up duo of Kay Davis and Mary Jones where hot on the heels of the champs.
The team of Brenda Cook and Wilma Smith took third place with 141 points.
One week earlier in a two best balls of foursome tournament, Marge Landra, Judy Neal, Ethel Hull and Kay Davis teamed up for 120 points and the event title.
Second place went to Blanche Nyberg, Judy Karnes, Brenda Baker and Wilma Smith. The foursome compiled 122 points.
In a point tournament contested Sept. 11, Dorothy Meek played her way to first place by outdueling silver medalist Lynn Kools.
Davis and Landra, both longtime PWGA members, tied for third place.
Landra pocketed closest-to-the-prize money on hole No. 5. Nyberg was closest on No. 17.
