Stephen Edgar Holt, 39, of Payson, died Sept. 28, 2001, in Payson. He was born March 30, 1962, in Eureka, Kan.
Mr. Holt graduated from Eureka High School in Eureka, Kan. in 1980. He graduated from Emporia State University in 1986 with a business administration and marketing degree.
Shortly after moving to Payson in 1989, he went to work for the developmentally disabled adults at DSI in the screen print shop, the men's group home, and teaching client intervention training classes. He worked for them for 10 years.
He was also a member of the Payson Jaycees and had been a volunteer for Tonto Rim Search and Rescue Squad since 1996.
Survivors include his fiancee, Nancy Gray and her two sons, Jeffrey and Joey of Payson; mother, Patty Jo (Holt) Thompson and her husband, Ronald F. Thompson of Emporia, Kan.; father, Tom Edgar Holt of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Suzanne Holt Gardenhire of St. Louis, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Betty and Ray Mitchell of Bella Vista, Ark.; paternal grandmother, Betty Holt of Wichita, Kan.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Norman Ingvard Hoflund and John Edgar Holt.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Tonto Rim Search and Rescue Squad building in Strawberry. Turn left on Fossil Creek Road, drive three miles west and turn left. Please bring a covered dish and lawn chairs for the dinner following the service.
