The Gila County Sheriff's Department has developed a civilian observer program for those interested in riding along with one of the on-duty deputies.
The program has been implemented county-wide. Applications can be picked up at the Payson office on Main Street.
Participants must be a minimum of 18 years old, have proper identification and not have been convicted of a felony. Observers are limited to one observation ride every 60 days.
Lt. Adam Shepherd said he hopes people take advantage of the opportunity.
"The deputies are energetic about getting people involved," Shepherd said.
