A bevy of lucky ticket holders will be in for big surprises tomorrow night when the Payson Chapter of Ducks Unlimited hosts it annual benefit banquet at Mazatzal Casino.
Since last spring, local DU Chairperson Bruce Wilson and his fellow members have been hawking raffle and banquet tickets at just about every event in the Rim country including a classic car show and an Independence Day celebration in Pine.
Tomorrow, those who purchased tickets will have the opportunity to take home a myriad of prizes. Among the most coveted will be a 2001 Polaris 325 4x4 ATV that has been on display around the Rim country.
Also included in the prize package is a complete patio set, La-Z-Boy recliner and a Ruger 10/22 rifle equipped with a reworked target trigger, scope and sling.
Other highlights on the DU agenda include an early bird drawing for a Marlin Model 25N 10/30 rifle. Other firearms to be given away include a Remington Model 5568 870 Express 12-gauge shotgun and a Remington Model 7000 DDl, Custom Deluxe 7-magnum rifle.
Also included in the raffle drawings and auction will be framed prints, jewelry and collectibles. A penny raffle and a ladies blitz for a cherry Shaker desk is also on the prize list.
Proceeds from the banquet annually fund habitat and wildlife improvement projects around the country.
Time to support our young people
The end-of-the-fall sports season at local schools is rapidly coming to an end.
In their battles to advance to post-season play, athletes on the football, volleyball and soccer teams desperately need your support.
While there are no home football games or cross country matches remaining, there are several soccer and volleyball matches to attend.
Local fans and parents also have the option to travel to away games to lend their support.
Check out your schedules and plan on attending a game. The young athletes will greatly appreciate your unwavering support.
Youth football benefit
Payson Youth Football is currently selling $5 raffle tickets for a completely equipped Martin Phantom Bow, donated by Pine Country Outfitters.
The bow will be given away at the youth football association's annual awards banquet in November. The exact date has not yet been set.
The proceeds from the raffle will benefit the football program.
Call Eric Santana (474-1775) or Hugh Schrank (474-5613) to purchase tickets.
